Connecting the Seiko RC-1000 to modern computer proved a bit of a challenge. My first issue was the commodore 64 connection cable and the serial communication.
Data specifications
Baud Rate: 2400
Stop bits: 2
Data bits: 8
Parity Check: None
Using a prolific PL2302 serial USB to Serial Adapter (be sure to purchase an original prolific chipset). I simulated the serial communication on my Mac. Here I hit my first snag, I was unable to set the baud rate below 9600. I needed older hardware or something more simplistic. I also needed to figure out how to wire the RC-1000 cable to my RS232.
Communication is simple using 2 wires RXD and GND. The RC-1000 has no TXD and therefore cannot send data back to the PC. It can only receive data.

Connect the RXD to pin 3 (TXD) of the RS232 serial plug and GND to pin 5 (GND).

I just used a simple connection wire from my bread board.
