My first issue was the commodore 64 connection cable and the serial communication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Data specifications<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baud Rate: 2400<br>Stop bits: 2<br>Data bits: 8<br>Parity Check: None<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using a prolific PL2302 serial<a href=\"http:\/\/www.prolific.com.tw\/US\/ShowProduct.aspx?pcid=41&amp;showlevel=0017-0037-0041\"> USB to Serial Adapter<\/a> (be sure to purchase an original prolific chipset).  I simulated the serial communication on my Mac.  Here I hit my first snag, I was unable to set the baud rate below 9600.  I needed older hardware or something more simplistic.  I also needed to figure out how to wire the RC-1000 cable to my RS232.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Communication is simple using 2 wires RXD and GND.  The RC-1000 has no TXD and therefore cannot send data back to the PC.  It can only receive data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.z88dx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_0106.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect the RXD to pin 3 (TXD) of the RS232 serial plug and GND to pin 5 (GND).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.z88dx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_0108.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nI just used a simple connection wire from my bread board.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.z88dx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_0109.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p><!--EndFragment--><\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Connecting the Seiko RC-1000 to modern computer proved a bit of a challenge.
